The Palm Beach County Housing Authority (PBCHA) retains High Performer rating on its HUD Section Eight Management Assessment Program (SEMAP) rating. On September 23, 2014, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) notified the Authority that the PBCHA’s final score for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2013 remained at 97 out of100 percent.

The SEMAP measures the performance of the public housing agencies (PHA’s) that administer the Housing Choice Voucher program in 14 key areas. The current rating is the result of HUD’s Miami Field Office remote review of PBCHA’s certification of performance on six of the SEMAP indicators for the fiscal year end September 30, 2013. Those six indicators included: Selection from Waiting List, Rent Reasonableness,Determination of Adjusted Income, Utility Allowance Schedule, Housing Quality Control Enforcement, and Expanding Housing Opportunities.

“The Housing Choice Voucher department is elated to receive a high performer designation from HUD,” said Laila Darby, Director of the Housing Choice Voucher Program. “We will continue to strive for exemplary service in administering the Housing Choice Voucher program while keeping with the mission of the PBCHA, ‘To be a leading Palm Beach County housing agency assisting with affordable housing needs of families, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities as these residents are striving for self-sufficiency and/or independent living’.”

Van Johnson, Executive Director for PBCHA, received notification from Victor Rocher, Acting Director of the Office of Public Housing for the Region IV, HUD Miami Field Office.
